To Whom it May Concern:
re: our mom Donna
We met Corrie and Connie through a referral from Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Our mom was desperately in need of care and the hospital was forcing her out.
Immediately upon meeting Corrie and Connie we were impressed with their knowledge and loving nature. The space they provided to our mom was likened to her living in her own home. It was a tough transformation for our mom, as she had lived with our dad for 67 ½ years. This was the first time they'd lived apart.
Our mom was suffering from dementia as well as other health ailments. Corrie and Connie were able to navigate these difficulties as they arose with amazing care and kindness, always respectful of mom's privacy and dignity.
Corrie had mom painting pictures and baking with her (something mom hadn't done in years). They loved their snack times and movie watching. Corrie and Connie made sure mom felt like she was in her own home.
We were able to visit whenever we wanted. Doors were always open.
Jamie (Corrie's brother) and his dog, Tat, also became a member of our family. Tat became one of mom's best friends and would sit vigil by her bedside making sure she was okay.
Corrie and Brian (Corrie's husband) took mom to all of her medical appointments and extracurricular activities at the rec centre and special outings to the beach by their home.
Corrie spoke with mom's general practitioner on a regular basis and kept mom's medical needs and prescriptions up to date and current to her changing health concerns. Mom was always comfortable with the medications administered by Corrie.
Mom spent her last nine months with Corrie and Connie. She was treated exceptionally well and lived out her last days around her new, extended family. We even had a birthday party for mom and a visit from the pastor at the end.
When the time came for mom to pass on Corrie was exceptional with her treatment and loving nature. Connie was there with mom to hold her hand, sharing stories and making her laugh. Connie also helped out with mom's care and made special meals for mom every night, always taking into consideration mom's favourite meals and special requests.
We were all there with mom (our family) and the kindness and love that was shown by Corrie and Connie was remarkable. Corrie played beautiful music as we all held hands and wished her farewell.
Corrie and Connie became mom's two best friends.
Corrie and Connie invited dad to stay with them for the several days leading up to mom's passing so that he could be close to mom. They took such wonderful care of dad. So much so that dad ended up staying an additional few days after mom's passing.
We invited Corrie and Connie to our wedding in July of 2022, after mom's passing at the end of May 2022. It would not have been the same without them, as we told them they are now officially a part of the "Stewart Clan". Corrie presented a beautiful speech at our wedding about mom. She also made sure that mom's special teddy, Val, was in attendance, as the "mother of the bride", with a beautiful orchid for dad to hold during the ceremony.
My husband and I ran into Corrie and her husband, Brian, just before Christmas. We were stranded without a ride and they offered to drive us home. Again, a testimonial to the kind of people they are.
I would highly recommend the home care services that Corrie and Connie provide. They are outstanding individuals and loving caregivers. Your loved ones will be in great care with these two beautiful ladies.
Sincerely,
Tracey & Donna's Family
"When my godmother had some medical issues come up during a routine doctor visit, Corrie and the ORSS team liaised directly between the doctors and our family, so that we could understand what was going on, what the treatment options were, and what we could expect for next steps. Knowing that someone who understands the local medical system and has a nursing background was advocating on her behalf helped us to have the peace of mind that my godmother might have the best possible outcome."
